The Garden Designer/Estimator role plays a pivotal part in Streetscape’s success by winning the landscape and garden/grounds maintenance business required to deliver our apprenticeships.

Job location: London (based at Myatt’s Fields Park, SE5 9RA)
Pay band: £25,000-£32,000 d.o.e
Contract length: Permanent (with 6-month probation period)
Working requirements:
Standard office hours are Monday-Friday, 8.00am – 4.30pm, however the role requires you to work additional hours where necessary.

Job purpose:
Solely responsible for generating sufficient sales from garden design and estimating work such that: i) all landscape/maintenance teams are fully-booked at least two months ahead, thereby enabling us to deliver a high standard of on-the-job training; and ii) the social enterprise division of Streetscape makes a surplus.
To facilitate future expansion by assisting MD in seeking out larger grounds maintenance/landscape opportunities in line with organisational objectives
To quality-assure landscape builds and maintenance works, ensuring works are carried out to specification and expected standards.
MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Garden design and estimating
Qualify new client referrals prior to booking in site visits, by phone and email
Carry out site visits and site surveys with potential clients.
When necessary, put together creative, beautifully presented and accurate designs in line with client briefs
Create accurate quotes, to budget and in good time, to enable Streetscape to win the business needed to provide our apprenticeships
Negotiate and sign-off quotes with clients, keeping within the margins of negotiation available to you
When a quote is agreed, ensure a seamless handover to Project Manager for delivery of the project, including attending pre-job site visit
Re-visit existing sales opportunities where required
Ensure that all sales-related activity, including new leads and opportunities, are accurately recorded in Salesforce CRM system; and that this is kept up-to-date at all times
Monitor sales performance through use of Salesforce reports and weekly sales meetings with MD.
New business opportunities
Working in collaboration with MD, actively seek out new business opportunities through building relationships with organisations in the following key sectors:
Housing associations
Local government
Schools
Local businesses
As part of this work, attend relevant events, such as meet-the-buyer, representing Streetscape
Working in collaboration with MD in preparation of tender documents, present, negotiate and facilitate ongoing dialogue with client, with effective handover to Project Manager upon sign-off
Working in collaboration with MD, win at least one opportunity to build a garden at RHS Chelsea or RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower Shows each year
Ensure that all sales-related activity, including new leads and opportunities, are accurately recorded in Salesforce; and that this is kept up-to-date at all times.
Quality assurance
For works won by you:
to visit landscape builds of a value greater than £5,000 at least once through the build;
to visit landscape builds of a value greater than £15,000 at least twice through the build;
to visit maintenance contracts of a value of greater than £5,000 twice a year;
to visit maintenance contracts of a value of greater than £10,000 once a quarter; … to ensure works are to specification and expected standards, with feedback passed on to lead landscaper and Project Manager for logging and action.
Provide technical advice to landscapers and Project Manager where required.
Other responsibilities
To act as a role-model to our apprentices at all times.
To answer the office phone when others are unavailable.
To host weekly sales meetings for the management team to update on the current sales pipeline
To contribute significantly to Quarterly Strategy Meetings and Quarterly Marketing Meetings, with any subsequent actions completed.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
A strong and unyielding commitment to the aims and ethos of Streetscape
A minimum of five years’ experience working in the landscape/horticultural sector
Sound knowledge of landscape construction methods
Excellent plant knowledge
Garden design skills, inc. CAD/Sketch-Up
A proven track-record of successfully winning business, developing opportunities and turning sales around
Highly organised, with experience of working in multi- disciplinary teams and managing multiple sales opportunities at a time
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent phone and meeting manner
A dynamic, entrepreneurial spirit: confidence to work on new challenges, think outside of the box and be open to challenging the way you have done things previously
Ability to make sound decisions quickly
IT literacy (MS Word, Excel, internet usage) and strong literacy and numeracy
Knowledge of quoting software e.g. Liberate or similar.
Full UK driving licence
Indefinite right to work in the UK
Highly desirable:
Experience of working with CRM systems, in particular Salesforce
Experience of public speaking
Own means to travel quickly between prospective clients/projects (fuel expenses covered).
